The Premier Student to Higher Education Event

Since its inception in 1994, the 100 Black Men of Chicago, Inc. (100 BMC) has worked to enhance the lives of youth and their families who live mostly in underserved communities. The 100 BMC mission is to help improve the quality of life and enhance educational opportunities for young students throughout the Greater Chicago area. Our mission is achieved through mentoring programs which focus on education, health and wellness, and economic development.

In the fall of 2003, the 100 BMC hosted its first College Scholarship Fair (CSF). The CSF has become the premiere event of its type in the Greater Chicago area. Each year more than 150 Colleges and Universities from across the nation have come to interact with over 5000 students and their parents.

Comments from Students and Parents

Getting to talk one on one with recruiters on information I was not fully aware of.

I liked that I got to go talk to a lot of school members that I plan to attend in the future.

I was able to talk to admission counselors who guaranteed me admission into their school…I like everything and will recommend it to people.

The fact that we get to talk to counselors from schools and they tell us what we need to get in.

That I was offered a full 4 year tuition.

Comments from Recruiters

Well organized. We always look forward to coming to this program.

Great caliber of students.

I truly enjoyed discussing college admissions with many of the outstanding students.

Preparation of the students. Students having test scores.

Accommodations were well above pare for students and recruiters. Students from new (different) high schools attending.

Having the opportunity to meet so many college bound African-American students, particularly males. The fair was great
